From our guest house, L'Allée des Noyers, nestled between Lot, Dordogne and Corrèze regions, embark on a unique journey through time… Just a 5-minute drive away, the brand-new Neanderthal Discovery Center awaits you in La Chapelle-aux-Saints, the site of a pivotal discovery in the history of humankind. A must-see during your stay, combining culture, nature, and prehistory.
A major discovery in Corrèze
It was here, in a small cave called Bouffia Bonneval, that a nearly complete Neanderthal skeleton, 50,000 years old, was unearthed in 1908. This discovery, made by the Bouyssonie brothers, marked a major turning point in our understanding of our origins. For the first time, it was discovered that Neanderthals buried their dead : proof of their fully human nature.
The village of La Chapelle-aux-Saints (4 km from our guest house), which has fewer than 300 inhabitants, has thus become a world-renowned site for paleoanthropologists.
A new, exciting museum accessible to all

Officially opened on July 11, 2025, after more than two years of work, this new museum succeeds the world's first museum dedicated to Neanderthals, inaugurated here in 1996.
This Discovery Centre offers you:

- for fun workshops younger children: excavations, games, manipulations,
